Rok Hwang’s iconic Central St. Martins collection placed him among the stars of today’s young designers. Winner of the 2010 L’Oreal award, 2009′s Chloe Award, and numerous compliments from Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue Italia, his long, body embracing pieces channel plenty of inspirations.

From Nike’s Air Force Ones to Pierre Cardin and Yves Saint Laudent, Hwang creates pieces that “react slightly against the eye, in a way that is not easily understood”. While he designs both women’s and menswear, he focused on freshness and originality in womenswear while being more conscious of the traditional proportions of menswear.

His strong, streamlined pieces were shown at seemingly the right moment, earning him a position on Celine’s design team where his languid and clear aesthetic will be well appreciated. Hwang has mentioned that his ultimate goal would be to dress Tilda Swinton, and as long his aesthetic matures in the way one would imagine, one could guess that his future work will be the perfect Til-Do.
