London College of Fashion MA Graduate 2009

Kate Yun Ju Ko's career began as a fashion designer in South Korea before moving to London to study for her MA in Fashion Design & Technology at the London College of Fashion.

Kate's latest collection was inspired by the graceful forms taken by jellyfish in the sea. She has recreated the dazzling appearance of jellyfish by using layers of sheer silk chiffon and jersey combined with silicon. In this work, hand-pleated delicate fabrics and a soft colour palette of toffee, caramel creams, lemon and blue hues work together to create garments that are well-structured, voluminous and elegant.

The collection won Kate the Second runner-up Award at the LCF MA show at the Victoria & Albert Museum and the coveted On/Off Reinvents Award to exhibit at the London Fashion Week in February 2009.

Kate's dresses were exhibited at the Science Museum during the London Fashion Week in February 2009 and at the Neo Couture Exhibition at the Fashion Space Gallery, London, from March to April 2009.

Her garments were also put in the spotlights by UK Nylon, Vogue, fashion 156, and F Tape.
