Dagong stands on a bend on historic Dasan-ro (a 2.9km long street running from Cheonggye 7-ga crossroads to Yaksugogae in Hannam-dong).
The 11-story structure presents a smart exterior. Unlike monotonous lease buildings, its façade features a staggered arrangement of windows linking two stories each. These windows also offer occupants a variety of views of the city from the building's interior.
Voids and openings (loggia) at various points in the structure allow the building to maintain its height despite a limit on total floor area. At the same time, these features serve to actively bring outdoor space into the building.
This both serves as a catalyst for various activities by occupants inside the building and provides rare open views of the city, as well as encounters with natural phenomena like rain and snow. Meanwhile, the contrast between the interior mortar finish and exterior aluminum panelling, the use of various materials and diverse patterns for the floors and walls, and the undulating exterior serve to go beyond the ordinary building designs found all over the city, creating new scenery and a new place.
