2011 spring. summer collection "1 1 root 2"

Inspired by Root2 and the idea of truth being progressive, spring’s minimalist collection from Cy Choi takes shape around a neutral wardrobe of clean lines and fine attention to detail. Featuring James Powderly photographed by K.Jin, the lookbook showcases a large array of suiting realized for situations, formal and informal.



From relaxed wrinkled trousers to short sets and coordinating coats, designer Chul Young Choi improves upon a carefully constructed vision that finds its season’s focus in the precise cuts of the revamped pocket of the future.



The discovery against logical reality which is familiar with our customary truth gives us unconventional impression and the novelty. This changes our ordinary life. When it is positive, we skim off the prejudice and perceive it as a truth.



This challenge of the truth tries a door to the infinite possibility of communication which broadens a wide range of the truth and open a new prospect. 11root2 is symbolic of the idea of this season. It was the epoch-making discovery about that time the integer was the absolute truth for centuries. It approved the truth is progressive and showed the possibility of endless vibration.



Chul-Yong CHOI, was born in 1972.
He started to study fine art and fashion design at the Hongik University in Seoul and continued fashion design at Domus Academy in Milan, Italy. Right after his graduation, he had lived in Milan, and worked as a fashion designer and art director both in Italy and Korea.
He launched his namesake brand, CY CHOI for menswear in Paris, 2009.
In the CY CHOI, it is melted his values that agonizes the possibility of transformation between art and design and seeks after visualizing the invisibleness with his own mimesis from the past.
